The Bald Head Island Conservancy
The Bald Head Island Conservancy, a nonprofit group formed more than 40 years ago, ensures the island’s natural environment is protected for generations to come.
From their Barrier Island Study Center, located on the island’s eastern end, the BHI Conservancy monitors and protects the loggerhead turtles that nest on the island’s beaches. With a mission to discover, learn, conserve and preserve, the BHI Conservancy conducts scientific research of global importance to coastal communities and offers educational programs for families throughout the year.
