Life on BHI

Bald Head Island, North Carolina, offers a way of life as novel as its name. There are no cars on the island, apart from service vehicles, so islanders travel by bicycle, electric cart or on foot.

The island’s slower pace provides an idyllic backdrop for traditional seaside pastimes like beachcombing, fishing and boating. While much of life here revolves around the water, the island’s rare maritime forest provides hundreds of acres for exploring.
