Plan Your Next Girls' Getaway to Bald Head Island

Bald Head Island, NC, is the perfect place to reconnect with your girlfriends. With its beautiful scenery, mix of activities, and charming shops and restaurants, you're sure to have a relaxing getaway that you'll never forget.

Here are a few suggestions for your long-weekend itinerary:

Day 1:

• Arrive at Deep Point Ferry Terminal in Southport, NC, and catch the ferry to the island. You’ll want to purchase your tickets in advance and book your tram to your accommodations at BaldHeadIslandFerry.com.
• Check into your beach house or inn. We suggest booking through Intracoastal Realty for a shared cottage or the Inn at Bald Head Island for private rooms.
• Spend the afternoon swimming, sunbathing and exploring the beach. You have 14 miles of white sand beaches to choose from!
• Have dinner at a restaurant on the harbor. You can’t go wrong with Jules or Delphina. For a lighter dinner, order a pizza and enjoy a cool drink at Will o’ the Wisp.

Day 2:

• Rent bicycles and explore the island's car-free roads. Both Coastal Urge and Riverside Adventure Co. have a good selection.
• Visit the Bald Head Island Conservancy to learn about the island's natural history.
• Go for a walk on a nature trail. Two of our favorites are along Federal Rd—the M. Kent Mitchell Trail and the Bald Head Woods Trail.
• Cap off the long day with a visit to Old Baldy Lighthouse for a great group photo.

Day 3:

• Get pampered at Island Retreat Spa. Massage and pedicure anyone?
• Go shopping for a great souvenir at the island's boutiques. All About Art, located along Merchants Row, is a wonderful little gallery that sells a variety of paintings, along with pottery and jewelry.
• Enjoy an early dinner at a casual restaurant with an ocean view. We recommend Horizons at the BHI Club or Latitudes at the Shoals Club.
• Take a spin around the island in your golf cart and watch the sun go down over the water. We’re one of only a few East Coast beaches where this happens!

Day 4:

• Have a delicious breakfast toast or berry bowl at Midway Coffee.
• Pack up your bags, wait for your tram, and catch the ferry back to the mainland.
• Promise your girlfriends that you'll do it all again soon!
