5 Things You Need for Your Beach Vacation

It’s finally time for your long-awaited beach vacation. You decided on going to the beach, you took time off work, everyone’s excited about the getaway – now what do you bring? Beach time is our specialty and we put together this list of some of the top things you’ll need on your trip. The trick is to have your important items with you but without taking up too much room. Here are our top 5 things you’ll want to bring on your Bald Head Island vacation. 

Collapsible Cooler – There's nothing like being at the beach for a couple hours and all the kids start getting antsy for more drinks and snacks. Pick up some goodies at Maritime Market and keep them in your cooler. Order a collapsible cooler before you travel and it can be easily stored in your luggage. 

Quick Dry Towel – Why do you need a specific beach towel? Well, you don’t but it can come in handy. Sand Cloud towels are one of our favorites because you can get an extra-large size that will fold up small enough for your bag, dries 3x faster than normal beach towels, and it’s sand resistant. 10% of profits even go towards marine conservation! 

Sunscreen – This might need to be the first thing you pack. Don’t wait until the last moment to bring your sunscreen or count on someone else to get it for you. A great trip can be ruined on the first day when you get too burnt to go back to the beach. If you show up without it, you might be stuck using one that you wouldn’t usually prefer. Dermatologists recommend a broad spectrum sunscreen that ensures you’re protected against both harmful UVA and UVB rays. Make sure you get a good brand and reapply it throughout the day. 

Travel Shade – We know flying with a beach umbrella might not be the best bet but you’ll want shade when you’re lounging in the sand. If you can’t just wear or carry your hat on your flight, we recommend one that is easy to pack. This foldable summer hat is perfect to throw in your luggage or beach bag and it won’t lose its shape.  

Stay Hydrated – A day at the beach calls for lots of water. Don’t get so busy playing in the waves that you forget to hydrate. We recommend an oversized stainless steel bottle to hold plenty of water for the day. You can get these at Walmart and it will keep your water cold for hours. You could also freeze your water bottles so they melt throughout the day.
