5 Ways to Keep Your New Year Resolutions
The end of the year brings holiday parties, family gatherings and thoughts about the new year to come. Many people start thinking about new healthy or productive habits they want to create in their life. Unfortunately, some won't go beyond thinking about them. It's always great to look for ways to improve and studies show that actually making specific goals to reach help you make the most improvement. Whether it's about weight loss, a healthier diet, cutting back on your spending, or planning to travel more, we want to help you reach your goals. Here are a few ways you can stay on track in the new year.
Make smaller goals. Big goals can be intimidating and can have you putting off even starting. Try to break down your long-term goal into smaller ones and try working towards one at a time. This way, you get the satisfaction of marking off the smaller ones faster and all those little things will add up!
Write it down. Visual reminders are great to keep it in your mind and work on it as often as possible. Whether it's a post-it note on your computer screen, a reminder on your mirror, or a full vision board on your wall, seeing it daily will make a big impact.
Believe you can do it. Have you heard of manifesting? Encouragement is one of the most motivating forces in the world. If you can't believe you can do something, why even try? Make sure you know you are more than capable of accomplishing it and tell yourself that often.
Have an accountability buddy. Telling someone else will help you stay on track because that makes two people you don't want to let down. If they're working on the same thing, even better! Tell your family and friends, the more the merrier. Support from others will be huge to keeping you on track.
Don't give up. There might be ups and downs, and that's okay! Just remember when things are tough, take a break. They always say it's better to rest than give up. Check in with your accountability people. Look for new methods to try. Remember why you started! There's a reason you wanted to do this so tell yourself that THIS time, you aren't stopping until you reach your goals.
If you're planning on taking a trip, be sure to make allowances while you're away from your routine. If you're taking a Bald Head Island vacation, be sure tell your crew what you're working on so they can support you as well. Or even celebrate your wins on a beach getaway. We wish you a wonderful and productive start to your new year!
