Family Fun During Spring Break on Bald Head Island
Families are flocking to the beaches of Bald Head Island for spring break. A week of fun in the sun, exploring the outdoors, and spending quality time with each other. There are so many adventures for families to have together on the island. Here are a few of our favorite family things to do during spring!
Outdoor Adventures
The adventures outdoors for families are limitless. Explore the beach and all it has to offer, such as stand up paddle boarding, surfing, kiteboarding or walking with the turtles. If you prefer an adventure on land you can bike ride over 15 miles of roadway or hike through Maritime Forest Preserve spotting fiddler crabs. Not to mention kayaking the creeks, sailing through the ocean, and fishing offshore. No better way to draw closer as a family then to share an adventure together.
Historic Sites
Old Baldy is North Carolina’s oldest standing lighthouse as well as one of the prettiest sights on Bald Head Island. Climb 108 steps to the top where you’ll find breathtaking views and great opportunities for a family picture. The Sail Shop’s Ghost Walk tour will take you through more than 350 years of island history, introducing you to the tales of lighthouse keepers, lifesavers, pirates and river pilots that make up Bald Head Island legend. Your family will love this spooky yet playful excursion.
Nature Programs
The Bald Head Island Conservancy offers a wide range of kid and family friendly programs. Ride along with the Conservancy staff as they patrol the beach for nesting sea turtles. Learn about crabbing and cast netting at the Village Creek Access. Explore Bald Head After Dark, learning about bats, frogs, toads, alligators, fireflies and more! Add some excitement to virtual learning. There is never a dull outdoor moment on Bald Head Island.
Having fun with friends and family is what Spring Break is all about. Book a Bald Head Island Vacation Rental big enough for the whole family. Enjoy all that the island has to offer during spring!
