Why We Can’t Wait to Get Back to Bald Head Island!
It has been a long hard spring for us all. Summer, however, is looking up! I know we all are ready to safely get back to normal and have a little fun. Taking a break on Bald Head Island is just what we need. Here are a few reasons why we can’t wait to get back!
Outdoor Adventures
On Bald Head Island there are plenty of things to do outdoors. Enjoy 14 miles of pristine beaches that you can explore, swim or Stand Up Paddle in the Atlantic and build a sandcastle. Ride a bike over the island’s gentle coastal terrain offering an easy ride with more than 15 miles of roadway. Take a hike through the M. Kent Mitchell Nature Trail providing nearly 360-degree views of the marsh. Kayak the creeks or sail through the ocean. There is always an outdoor adventure to be had on Bald Head Island!
Exploring Wildlife
From Fiddler Crabs to a variety of birds, there is so much wildlife on Bald Head Island to be explored. Come within feet of egrets and herons while hearing the call of an osprey circling overhead. You can even walk with the sea turtles. Every summer loggerhead sea turtles return to the island to lay their eggs. Turtle Walks start the first week of June and run nightly through the first week of August. How exciting to watch the turtle hatchlings dig their way out!
Sports and Fitness
If you like to stay active on a summer break, Bald Head Island certainly has an array of activities for you. Hit the links at one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Southeast. The George Cobb-designed course winds through the forest, under the eye of Old Baldy and out onto the dune ridge where a 180-degree view of the ocean cheers you on at the final holes. Anyone up for a game of Tennis? The four courts at the Bald Head Island Club’s Tennis Center offers daily clinics and private lessons with one of the United States Professional Tennis Association Pros. Yoga on the beach is the perfect way to start or end your active day!
There are so many things about the Island that we love. We can’t wait to get back to normal and back to a Bald Head Island vacation rental. Until then, let’s focus on the future and keep our summer vacation dreams alive!
