A Look Back at 2018 on Bald Head Island
Just like that, another year has passed. It was an eventful year for Bald Head Island. There were many fun events for the whole family as well as a feature on HGTV and TripAdvisor list. Unfortunately, we couldn’t avoid Hurricane Florence but the island is staying positive and we got back on track in no time. Here is a look back on 2018.
Bald Head Island was highlighted on HGTV in December for a show called “Island Life”. Cameras followed two families with Bald Head Island homes to get a look into true island life. Bald Head Island Limited Real Estate Sales agent Stephanie Blake says, “It was great that we shot all the areas of the island and the different environments. Bald Head Island has so much to offer, and these shows will present a snapshot of the entire island.” Plan Sea was featured on the popular series and is available for rental during select times of the year.
In June, Bald Head Island residents and visitors celebrated the 300th anniversary of Black Beard’s death with a “Pirate Invasion”. The big event included live music, dancing, pirate ships, and a treasure hunt. Proceeds from the Pirate Invasion helped British Virgin Island hurricane recovery and rebuilding. Labor Day Weekend is always a blast on Bald Head Island. Last year, we had a big “Farewell to Summer” cookout with delicious food and drinks followed by live music. A big highlight was the Side Porch Oyster Roast with Chef Marc’s famous oysters. There was also a “Last Blast” pool party at Bald Head Island Club with a fun Hawaiian theme. Every year, we have exciting events to enjoy during your Bald Head Island vacation.
TripAdvisor named Bald Head Island in the 13 Beaches in North Carolina for the Perfect Vacation. Among a pleasant list of beach houses, condos, and classic cottages, Bald Head Island was included with some of the highest-rated rental properties in the state according to TripAdvisor.
We can’t forget about Hurricane Florence. It was a difficult hurricane season for many areas and Bald Head Island didn’t escape it. Florence slammed into the East Coast resulting in strong winds, lots of rain, and flooded homes. Thankfully, clean-up efforts were made right away with many donating their time and resources to help the island get back on track. We are still so thankful for all the support.
2018 had its ups and downs but there were so many great memories. We already have lots in store for 2019 and look forward to a wonderful year on Bald Head Island.
