5 Beach Hacks You Need To Know

Are you looking forward to your beach vacation at Bald Head Island? Miles of pristine beaches and sunny weather are calling your name. We already gave you our best packing tips but we have some popular beach hacks to try when you visit. Most of us know the baby powder trick to get sand off or using a fitted sheet to keep sand out of your lounging area but here are some new ones that are a MUST when on your Bald Head Island vacation. 

When you have kids, there are two things guaranteed while at the beach: you’ll have tons of toys to carry and there will be sand EVERYWHERE. Mesh bags are the perfect solution to make your cleanup much easier. You can bring a mesh laundry hamper or some beach toy sets come in a mesh bag you’ll want to hang on to. Carry all your toys and gear to the beach in your bag, then when you head out, rinse off the toys and toss them in the bag and shake off the excess water and sand. 

Sunny days are the best for a great beach day but the heat can also affect our supplies. Keep your chapstick and sunblock in the cooler so they don’t turn into a dripping mess or leak from the heat. Having them in a visible spot will also help you remember to apply throughout the day. Sometimes we leave with a sunburn even when we were most careful so be prepared with some aloe vera ice cubes. Freeze aloe vera gel in an ice cube tray so you have a soothing remedy ready to apply when you get back. 

You can throw all your personals in your beach bag but with everyone walking back and forth all day, you’ll most likely end up with a bag and some items full of sand. We prefer to use a backpack instead so you can keep it zipped up and wear it on your back to make your hands free. The last thing you want is sand in your phone so keep that in a Ziploc bag so you can still use it but it is protected. If you bring some larger bags for snacks, save those for the wet clothes when you head home.
