Memorial Day Weekend Fun on Bald Head Island

It’s time for sunshine and tan lines! Summer is right around the corner. What better way to kick it off than a three day holiday weekend! Bald Head Island welcomes back summer with cool events throughout the weekend.

Memorial Day weekend celebrations begin on Saturday, May 27th with three days full of parties, kid’s activities and more! Who didn’t love field day when they were kids? Head to the Shoals Club at 11am for “Beach Day”. This exciting family field day on the beach will bring you back to your childhood. Scavenger hunts, art shows and ice cream eating contests all take place throughout the day! End the evening with a Memorial Day feast and party with “Port City Shakedown”!  

Sunday, May 28th starts a whole new slew of celebrations. Sunday morning wake up your inner athlete and join in the Shoals Club Triathlon. 1 mile run, 1 mile bike and 1 lap swim makes this the perfect laid back race when on vacation. Make a splash at noon with Shoals Club Pool Party complete with DJ, Games and prizes. Then Celebrate the Sunset in the Riverside Adventure/Delphina Courtyard with DJ Fray, Face Painting, Hula Hoop contest and more! Beach Access #5 will have free s’mores prepared over a bonfire.  

On Monday, May 29th a traditional Memorial Day Service will be held on Old Baldy Grounds. The ceremony will honor all branches of the military. Bald Head Island’s Chapel choir will perform, there will be guest speakers and color guard.  

Memorial Day weekend is three days full of fun and festivities on Bald Head Island. However, you don’t have to limit your time to three days. After all you need to save a couple of days for rest and relaxation. A day or two to explore the island and maybe even get in a game of golf.
