Holiday Shopping and a Day of Golfing on Bald Head Island
Bald Head Island is one of our favorite weekend getaways. A short ferry ride away and you feel like you’re in another world. Untouched acres of beach, marsh and maritime forest preserves along with intimate Bald Head Island vacation rental neighborhoods create a quiet atmosphere. There are plenty of activities to do on the island including a few of our favorites: Golfing and Shopping.
The Bald Head Island Golf Course was originally designed by famed golf course architect George Cobb and recently renovated by architect Tim Cate. Rated second-best renovation in the country by Links magazine, this course winds its way over dunes, around lagoons, along the ocean and through a maritime forest. Many of the holes are so untouched you will find yourself sharing the greens with herons, egrets, foxes and alligators. Make a tee time and enjoy nature!
Bald Head Island has some unique little shops perfect for picking up gifts for the holidays. All About Art is a charming gallery with a variety of oil paintings, watercolors, fine art photography, sculptures and jewelry. If you want to give a gift that exudes island lifestyle then visit Coastal Urge’s retail shop. It has a wide selection of active wear, swimwear and accessories featuring brand names such as: Patagonia, North Face, Lily Pulitzer, TOMs and Vineyard Vines. For environmentally friendly gifts, books, toys, jewelry and apparel visit Turtle Central.
After a busy day of shopping and golfing we meet back at our favorite Bald Head Island restaurant, Delphina Cantina. This lively restaurant serves Mexican food with a Spanish and Cuban flair. Viewing the harbor and sipping on a signature Margarita is the perfect end to an amazing day on Bald Head Island.
