Spring is the Best Time for Bald Head Island Vacation
Picturesque weather, minimal crowds, and buzzing Island activity are just a few reasons why there is no better time than now to take your next Bald Head Island vacation. Here are our three favorite things about springtime on the Island and how you can take full advantage of them today!
1. Springtime weather
It’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. While we recommend Bald Head Island vacations all year round we have to admit some activities are just more enjoyable when the weather turns warm. Whether it’s riding around on golf carts, playing a round of golf on the prestigious award winning course, or enjoying a nice dinner overlooking the harbor, Bald Head Island’s outdoor scene is conducive to the seasonal weather of the North Carolina coast.
Lucky for North Carolinians, the weather starts turning warm in March, well before the hot summer months, giving locals and vacationers many weekends of beautiful weather before tourist season arrives.
We recommend signing up for a guided nature tour with the Bald Head Island Conservancy to take full advantage of the springtime blooms and renting a bike from Coastal Urge or Riverside Adventure Company to explore the Island’s fresh air on your own.
2. Accommodation specials
Although the weather and water are heating up on the North Carolina coast, we are still a few months away from prime beach season. That means springtime is the perfect time to take that long weekend you’ve been wanting and head over from Southport, NC for a Bald Head Island vacation.
As spring is technically still off season on the Island, there are many accommodation specials and last minute deals to take advantage of between now and July. Whether you’re planning a family vacation, boys getaway, or bachelorette party - Bald Head Limited makes it easy to find the perfect rental house for your needs.
We recommend viewing rental properties by location right on your desktop/phone with Bald Head Island’s easy-to-use vacation guide.

3. Open for business
While some businesses on the Island close down for a quieter winter season, they open back up just in time to accommodate springtime Bald Head Island vacations. The Shoals Club has reopened with brand new menus and reimagined dining experiences at both AQUA, its seafoodcentric upscale dining room and Latitudes, the indoor outdoor presentation deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean that offers wine and small plates.
Retail stores such as Island Passage Boutique have opened with brand new inventory, perfectly timed to fill your springtime wardrobe and the Island Day Spa and Salon has reopened under new owners/operators to provide Bald Head Island vacationers with the pampered and luxurious experience they deserve.
We recommend enjoying a nice glass of wine overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Frying Pan Shoals at the Shoals Club wine bar before dinner and maybe a nice moonlight stroll along an uncrowded East Beach when you’re finished. Why not?
With warm weather, off season prices and crowds, and Island amenities reopened, it’s easy to see why locals and visitors alike love to enjoy Bald Head Island this time of year.
