Weekly News from BHI's Maritime Market
Claude Pope and the good folks at the Maritime Market put out a great news email each week detailing everything happening on the island. We'll be sharing those emails here each week as well, to help keep everyone up to date. Thanks to Claude for allowing us to share, and if you haven't already signed up for his email, you can do so here.
Bald Head Blues is invading the mainland, bringing the BHI lifestyle and story to landlubbers across the south :) Young Claude will be in Greenville, NC tomorrow hosting an event at the Campus Corner - one of our new retailers - from 11am - 6pm. If you're in the area, drop by and share your BHI stories and pick up a sticker or a new kookie (or three). Claude will be tooling around the ECU campus in the BHB golf cart showing off some new items from our fall collection, and giving away some freebies. The inaugural Bluefish Bonanza is just around the corner, and the buzz is building! Earlybird registration ends today, and you don't want to miss the fun! The Bluefish Bonanza is a family fishing weekend, with big prizes among three divisions - adults, juniors (6-15), and pee wee (under 6). The entire family can fish together and win together! The rules are simple - catch the most qualified bluefish (by weight). The event begins with a two hour Mini-Fishing School on Friday afternoon, October 17, followed by a welcome reception. Lines go in the water first thing Saturday morning, and come out at 3:30 that afternoon. Fish anywhere between beach Access 3 and 42, with judges stations strategically located in-between. It all wraps up with a fish fry & awards ceremony on Saturday night. Follow the Bluefish Bonanza on social media. The next Howl at the Moon Sunset/Moonrise Party happens next week - on Wednesday, October 8, and is generously sponsored by Peter Quinn Architects. We'll gather at Beach Access 39 from 5:30 - 7:30pm. Chef Chip will be bringing a huge pot of soup. BYOB and bring an appetizer to share. We'll have the bonfire blazing, and our Scottish Piper will welcome the setting sun - and the rising moon. The sun will set at 6:46pm and the full harvest moon will appear from the depths of the Atlantic at 7:03pm.
The BHI Club's Member-Guest Weekend is coming up October 8-11. That's next weekend, and the event may very well be sold out already. It's one of the best weekends of the year for golf and fellowship, but the tournament is limited to 60 teams. Call Justin at the Pro Shop at 910-457-7310 and see if there are still any spots left.
Also next weekend, Barbara Adams-Miller is organizing the first Bald Head Island Pink Weekend to support Breast Cancer Awareness, with multiple events taking place. She's created a website (http://www.baldheadislandpink.com) and has posted several events already, with more to come. Saturday events include a Fashion Show and a Parade of Designer homes, and Sunday's events are highlighted by a 5K Pink Turtle Trot sponsored by the BHI Conservancy, with a special ferry/run package for day-trippers. If you'd like to volunteer, please contact Barbara at mailto:[email protected].
During the month of October, the Market will be open from 8am - 7pm Monday through Saturday, and we'll close early on Sundays at 4pm.
