Bald Head Island Goes Pink
We are proud to support Bald Head Island Goes Pink Weekend. The event is receiving local media coverage such as the article seen below published in the State Port Pilot, October 1st.
Run, show and tour support breast cancer victims
Organizers of “Bald Head Goes Pink for the Cure” are encouraging visitors to participate in events Saturday and Sunday, October 11-12, aimed at raising money for breast cancer awareness and research. Of particular note is the Sunday, October 12, Trot for the Cure 5-k fun run, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. and the run at 9:30. Participants will benefit both the Bald Head Island Conservancy and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Runners are invited to put on pink, gather the family and run or walk through Bald Head’s maritime forests and pristine beaches. Pre-registration for visitors to the island is $50 for adults and $40 for ages 12 and younger. The price includes a round-trip ferry ticket, water, snacks and a T-shirt. Pre-registration for islanders is $35 for adults and $25 for children (same-day registration is $45 for adults and $25 for children). Also on Sunday, October 12, there will be a pink ribbon memorial service at the village chapel at 3:30 p.m. A sunset beach celebration with music, games, raffle prizes, refreshments and s’mores is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday’s events include a showcase of six designer homes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a fashion show at Island Passage from 2 to 4 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Maps of the tour homes and raffle tickets are available at the Maritime Market. Prizes include three-night vacation packages, paintings, golf, a beach bicycle and a treatment at Island Spa.
