Pirate Weekend Kicks Off This Friday
The highlight of August on BHI is Pirate's Weekend! Here's a sneak peak at the upcoming activities happening this weekend. Some events are free while others require tickets. Visit the Old Baldy Foundation's website to order tickets and see the full schedule for the weekend.
On Friday, August 2, party with the Pirates beginning at 4:30. The Beer & Wine Truck opens at 4:30 at the Harbour, with music by the Rusty Cutlass band. Silent Auction also begins at 4:30, and the island-wide treasure hunt happens from 4-6. Enjoy a Carolina BBQ buffet beginning at 5:30. Sinbad & the Meka II invade the island at 5:30. Scalawag School begins at 6:30.
Saturday, August 3 begins with the Pirates and Pancakes Breakfast at the Bald Head Island Club - this event always sells out so get your tickets soon. At 2 p.m, the Pirate Duck Race begins at the Village Creek access. Also at 2, the Pirate Artist School gets underway at the Association building. The Island-wide Treasure hunt ends at 6 pm with the winners announced on Sunday. At 7:30, the Pirate Ghost Walk begins.
The Pirate Parade begins on Sunday, August 4 at 11:30 a.m. from Old Baldy. From Noon to 5 pm, the National Lighthouse & Pirate Festival Day event happens at the Harbourside Pavilion, and the Scalawag School happens at 2 pm.
