BHI Conservancy Director Named to Coastal Resources Commission
Suzanne Dorsey, Executive Director of the Bald
Head Island Conservancy, has been appointed to the Coastal Resources
Commission, the rule-making body for development along North Carolina’s
beaches and estuaries.
Dorsey has experience working as an educator and scientist for more than 15 years, and led the conservancy’s campaign to build the nation’s first barrier island research center, which opened in 2012.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Drew University and received her master’s degree from the University of Maryland. She has extensively studied ocean reefs and said she had always been focused on the intersection of science and public policy.
